LONDON, 4th December.
Semi-official messages from the North Russian front state that the Bolsheviks
were compelled to abandon a position in the Pinega Valley and retire towards Dvina. They have also relaxed pressure in South Russia.
The situation of Russians and Germans under pursuit by the Letts is critical. It is considered that the evacuation of the Baltic States cannot be longer postponed. The volunteers in the Ukraine have joined up with the Polish advance guards, thus forming a united anti-Bol-shevik front from the Caspian to the Baltic, and also rendering possible cooperation by tho Poles and volunteers. A treaty has been signed under which the Galician army comes under Denikin. The Galician Government has been removed to Odessa.
