THE LATE MR. DROMGOOL
A keen search has been made of the coast line in the vicinity of Titahi Bay for the body of Mr. P. _. Dromgool, who was drowned on Sunday afternoon while endeavouring to rescue a fellow bather, but so far without any result. The late Mr. Dromgool, 8.A., LL.M., joined the Public Trust staff in .1918. He was educated at the Auckland Grammar School, from which he won a Junior University Scholarship. After some years' training in the law offico of his brother, Mr. J. C. Dromgool, of Anckland, and graduating, first as Bachelor and.later as Master, of Laws, the late Mr. Dromgool enlisted and went into camp, but was subsequently discharged on account of defective eyesight. He then "joined the staff- of the Public Trust Office, and while there completed his thesis for the degree of Dector cf Law. In the University Degree Examination of laet month Mr. Dromgopl sat for his M.A. Degree- in Economics, so that, had he lived, he would in all probability next year have been M.A., LL.D., at the early age of 27. Mr. Dromgool was not only a brilliant scholar, but a fine business man, with a gift for prompt and methodical despatch of work. Had he lived he must have won a high place at the New Zealand Bar, especially as his great ,in.tellectual ability was supported by a charming personality. Unassuming, genial, and endowed with a delightful sense of humour, Mr. Dromgool endeared himself tp all who were brought into touch with him. The generous 'act that ended so tragically was the last characteristic act of.a Christian gentleman. who will long bo affectionately remtmbered by big associates.
