ATHLETIC SPORTS
In favourable weather, and in the presence of a number of spectators, the annual sports gathering of the training-ship Amokura was held at Anderson Park. The prizes were presented by Mrs. Barnsdale, wife of the Commander. The results of the various events were as follow:— 100 yds (Open).—Morris 1, Hughes 2. 100 yds (Small Boys).—Gould 1, Millar I 2. 75yds Petty Officers. — Morris 1, M'Kenzie 2. • Throwing Cricket Ball—Arnold 1 (distance, 183 ft). High Jump.—M'Kenzie 1, Morris 2. High Jump (small boys).—Millar I. 100 yds Staff Race.—Mr. Knox 1, Captain Barnsdale 2. 440 yds Handicap (open).—Harrison I, Smithson 2, Herbert o. Potato and Bucket Bace. —Lever 1, White 2. Watch Relay Bace.—Won by port watch. Hop, Step, and Jump.—Arnold 1, Morris 2. Sack Race.—Gould 1, Herbert 2. Obstacle Race.—Holmes 1, M'Kenzie 2, Andrews 3.
