Carruth.ers has been elected chairman of the Eketahuna County Council, for tho ensuing yeai. Mr W. H. Booth, of Middle Hun, took seven first prizes and a- reserve championship at the Stratford Show this week with his Jersey cattle. A good deal of barley is being grown in the Wairarapa this season. Several properties in the Gladstone district have recently changed hands at satisfactory prices to the vendors. At the evening runs on Thursday in connection with the Wairarapa Amateur Athletic Club, the 75yds handicap was won by Vesty, and the SBoyds handicap by Kilmister. A cricket match between Maunceville and the W.F.C.A., played on Thursday, resulted in a win for 'the latter by thirty-two runs.
