LODGE MEETINGS
The Pioneer Lodge, having secured premises in the Central Mission Hall,' Webbstreet, held its meeting this week. Sister Cullam, V.T., in the absence of the G.T., presided. The quarterly circular containing general news of the Order was •read and received, and a special election appeal from the G.E.S. was adopted. Members were urged to work earnestly for the emancipation of mankind from the thraldom of the liquor traffic. All were requested to inspect the rolls and make sure that their names were on the correct rolls, consequent on the alteration of boundaries. The report of committees on absent members was adopted. The quarterly reports of the various officers were submitted, and a vote of thanks was passed to them. The installation of officers was then conducted by the L.D., Bro. Atkinson, the following being the respective officers:—C.T., Sister Devereux; V.T., Sister Dawson; Chap., Sister Harding; Mar., Sister Callum; P.C.T., Bro. Trevithick; Sec, Sister Webb.; Guard, Bro. Rowe; Sentinel, Bro. Hunt; Pianists, Sister Richards ; Treasurer, Sister Leer ; Fin. Sec, Sister L. Richards; Deputy Mar., Sister Eden, jun. Votes- of thanks to the installing officer and his deputies were carried. Reports of District Lodge delegates were then submitted. It was decided to issue a special invitation to the District Executive to visit the Pioneer Lodge on a. convenient date to suit the executive. Members were informed of the official visit to the Hope of Petone Lodge, and it was-hoped a large number would be present. The members of the Central Mission Management Board, and their wives, will be invited to a social evening in the second week in December, the object being to show the lodge's practical appreciation for their giving consent to hold the lodge meetings in the primary schoolroom. Kext week the winning team_ in the Carlisle system will be entertained by the losing side.'. Tho weekly session of the Sunbeam Temple was held in the Central Mission Schoolroom, Webb-street. C.T. Sister D. Teague presided. The'chief function of the evening was an official visit from the Excelsior Temple, of New town. After the opening business the assistant superintendent and the officers of the Excelsior took charge of the meeting, and an enjoyable evening was spent. Sympathy was expressed with Bro. L. Geary, who had met with a serious accident. A good programme of items was rendered. A return visit will shortly bo paid by the Sunbeam Temple.
