MEMORIAL TO FALLEN MAORI SOLDIERS.
(BI TBtBGRAPU.—SPECIAL TO THE POST.) ONGARUE. This Day. The proceedings in connection with the unveiling of the memorial to fallen Maori soldiers belonging to the Maniapoto and Taupo tribes yesterday was j deeply impressive. There was a religious service in Maori, with a, choir singing Maori hymns. Two hundred names were inscribed on marble tablets.' The obelisk was topped by a flagstaff, from which floated the British ensign, the Maori flag, the French, Belgian, Italian, and American flags. Eighty re"turned Maori soldiers in uniform were present. The Hon. Dr. Pomare, Mr. W. Jennings, M.P., and Major Salmon, O.C. Maoris at Gallipoli,. delivered addresses.
