The first hole was halved and the-second was'won by Mrs. Williams, but Miss Tweed;squared, the next with five. ' Both were on the 'green, at the fourth in 3, but1 Miss Tweed laid herself stymie and her; opponent won, making < her 1. up. Mrs. Williams went down in 5 at the fifth "to''her opponent's 6, making tEe .former 2 up. 'At the. sixth Miss, Tweed, outdrove Mrs... Williams, arid running her second within about seven feet of the pin, went out in A. Mrs. Williams .was short with her second, over-ran the.pin with her third, and holed out ia 6, leaving her 1 up. Miss ; Tweed was short of the green wi,th her drive at. the seventh, 'and- her. approach to^the /puttl, was too strong, leaving her a long putt for 3, '■which she failed to . get. 'The hole was halved in 4. At the Miss Tweed was rather short in her drive and fluffed her third outside the bunker. Her fourth left' her a long putt, which she ran home, and the hole was halved in 5,: her opponent taking three putts. Miss Tweed got into trouble at the ninth with her third, and had to drop another ball, with a penalty. Her fifth went into the rushes, and she holed out in 7 to her opponent's 6, leaving Mrs. .Williams 2 up at'the turn. Mrs. Williams won tlje tenth in 4,.' to her opponent's 5, and at , the eleventh Miss Tweed put her third into the Tamaki. Mrs. Williams holed out in 5, making her 4 up. The twelfth was halved in five. Mrs. Williams drove a long ball slightly over the edge of the gully at the thirteenth, and her attempt to play it out was not successful. t!he holed out in 6 to her opponent's.3, leaving her 3 up. They halved the fpurteenth in 6 and the fifteenth in 5, leaving Mrs. Williams dqrmy 3.. The sixteenth was halved in well-played^«, giving Mrs. Williams the match with 6 up and 2 to play. The Bogey Handicap Match was won by Mrs. Dargavilte (Auckland), handicap 8, who finished 2 down. Mrs. Marchbanks (Wellington) and Miss X Culling (Auckland) tied for second place, 3 down, Mrs. Marchbanks's handicap being 11 and Miss Calling's 13. The next best cards were: Miss E. Brown (papier) and Miss Turton iWellington), handicap 9 each, 4 down.
AUCKLAND, This Day.
The Ladies' Golf Tournament was continued in fine weather. In the championship (third round) Miss Wright beat Mrs. Williams five up and four to play, and will probably win the championship.
