Mr D. M. Gorman, i who has been for some four years a member of the literary staff, of the Evening Post, has resigned, 'in order to take up a responsible position on the King Country Chronicle at Te Kuiti. This morning his old associates bade him farewell, and on their behalf the Editor (Mr. J. Parker) presented him with a parting gift, at the same time expressing full appreciation of his services as' a member of tho staff, and hearty wishes for his future welfare.
Shortly after noon to:day, a returned soldier, while endeavouring to regain possession; of his hat, which a heavy gust of -wind, had,lifted from his head, fell over the edge of an. inner tee of the Queen's Wharf. He was an, ■ expei"t swimmer, and was soon able to make his way to one of tho piles, and, with tho assistance of some wharf officials, he was able to get back on to the decking of the wharf again.
