Plowman, formerly of the Kaltangata, is awaiting orders in Wellington. THB' SOMERSET. At present discharging Liverpool cargo at Wellington is the F and S. steamer Somerset, which arrived from Lytteltoa late on Thursday night. The Somerset is a new ship, having been completed at the end of last year by Earle's. Her tonnage is 5773, length 482 ft, and beam 62ft, and she is capable of doing 12 knots an hour. With her short derrick masts and cruiser stern, the Somerset is a. typical cargo-carrier, and should prove a valuable addition to the Federal and Shire fleet. Captain T. Weston is in command, having with him the following officers:—Chief, Mr. E. W. J Mursey; secondy Mr. G. Kennell; third, Mr. A. J. Angell: fourth, Mr. H. 3. Phoenix ;i chief engineer, Mr. D. On the 20th August the Waiwera arrived at Newcastle from London, via Adelaide, and was to leave Newcastle on Saturday with coal1 for Wellington. She will later load at Nelson, New Plymouth, Lyttelton, and Wellington for London.
