The manager of the State Coal Depot asks us to state that William Bines and Leslie Oldaker, who were fined yesterday for being on licensed premises after hours, have no connection with the Department. It was stated in evidence that Bines and Oldaker had represented themselves as being connected with the depot.

In informing a deputation of wafersiders to-day that he was appointing two inspectors of gear at Wellington, the Hon. T. M. His parents were respectable people, who resided in Christchurch.. A lady residing in Nowtown was ready to give the lad a home until such time.that he could obtain a suitable position. The Magistrate admitted the youth to probation for twelve months, and made the usual order regarding the return of the stolen watch to its owner.

As there is no room large enough for group gatherings, the room in Fowlds's buildings will still have to be retainod for these large social evenings, and the regular Saturday evening socials will be resumed there after to-night, until such time as sufficient accommodation may bo added to the Boulcott-street building.
