FAVOURED WHAKATANE
SPRING-LOSE CONDITIONS;
' r (IT TEUiffIRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) ' WHAKATANE, This Day. The Whakatane county, already noted for its drought-proof soil, is now establishing a reputation for being winterproof. Dairymen report that grass is growing rapidly, the pastures being ;quite up. to the ordinary mid-September ;.condition. Peach trees . were flowering at the end of July, and willows were all abloom. These conditions are attributed ■ to a lightness of winter rainfall, enabling, ' the spring warmth to penetrate quickly. A grand milk season is -therefore' anticigat'ed everywhere. :
