At the monthly meeting of stewards of the Masterton Racing Club, held on Saturday last, officials were elected as follow for the forthcoming meeting: — Judge, Mr. R.' H. Aldworth; handicapper, Mr. J. The programme of the Spring Meeting of the Otaki Maori Racing Club, to be held in September, was approved at the monthly meeting of the Metropolitan Club. Mr. H. B. Lusk has been appointed judge to the Wellington Racing Club for the coming season. The Australian Steeplechase, of 1750 sovs, four miles, will be decided at Caulfield on Saturday next. The Hurdle Race winner Sir Mnemon ia in with 10.11, which is 121b more than ho carried last Saturday. Mr. C. F. Vallance, who was in town this week, informs me that the new totalisator house at Opaki will be completed in time for the Masterton Racing Club's Spring Meeting in October. Messrs. W. H. S. Moorhouse, C. W. Tringham, J. G. Duncan, J. W. Abbott, and 0. S. Watkiris have been appointed members of the Wellington District Committee for the coming season. The well-known ex-New Zealander D. J. Price, who has been out of luck for some time, led in a winner at the Ballarat Meeting last month. The marquee which has done duty as a tea tent at Otaki is to be removed and an up-to-date tea kiosk erected. Mr. B. Ling, president of Ihe Maori Olub, who was in town this week, said the new building would not be ready for the Spring Meeting. A Press Association cable message from Adelaide states that Beltane has been weighted at 11.9 in the National Hurdles.
