Since Easter tune Kilkee has been successful on five occasions. He won the Pourakino Handicap, _ one mile, at Riverton, and also ran third to Samiel, conceding 51b, in the Farewell Handicap, one mile. In the Winter Cup the pair named meet on level terms. At South Canterbury Sisyphus conceded Kilkee 51b and & beating in the Doncaster Welter Handicap, one mile. In the Winter Cup Sisyphus receiveg 91b. At North Otago Kilkee won a double—the Fernbrook Welter Handicap, seven furlongs, and the Te Puke Welter, seven furlongs. His other win was in the Fleeji Handicap at Trentham, in which he finished in front of a number of Winter Cup candidates. ■ > The successful light-weight jockey L. G. Morris has accepted a retainer to ride for H. Telford s Trentham stable next season. The Auckland hunter Seville (Penury —Orange and Blue), who was among the winners at Riccarton last August, was shipped South on Monday. He is engaged in the Spreydon Hack Hurdles, run on the second day, in which event he was successful twelve months ago. J. ' Ayres goes South to-night with Battle Array, Sonnino, and Polthogue. C. Emerson is to ride Battle Array in his Riccarton engagements. It is reported that the rider named will bg retained by Mr. Soatnes next season. At the monthly meeting of stewards of the Masterton Racing Club, held on Saturday last, officials were elected as follow for the forthcoming meeting: — Judge, Mr. R.' H. Aldworth; handicapper, Mr. J. E. Henrys; starter, Mr. O'Connor. Messrs. C. F. Vallance, W. Cooper, F. Dorset, D. M'Lachlan, and F. Jensen were appointed a Ground Committee ; Messrs. C. F. Vallance, F. Dorset, W.. D. Watson, G. H. Yates, and R. Cooper ' a Programme Committee ; Messrs. Vallance and W. Cooper a Licensing Committee; Messrs. lorns and JNee, a Catering Committee, andi Messrs. Vallance, Logan, and Carricls a Finance Committee. J. Campbell is to ride Kilboyne in the Winter Cup. Although it is 1 nearly a month since the Wellington Winter Meeting, the inquiry into the alleged.inconsistent form shown by Canzonet has not yet been concluded. At the monthly meeting of stewards of the metropolitan club it was again considered and adjourned for fnrther consideration. The programme of the Spring Meeting of the Otaki Maori Racing Club, to be held in September, was approved at the monthly meeting of the Metropolitan Club. Mr. H. B. Lusk has been appointed judge to the Wellington Racing Club for the coming season. The Australian Steeplechase, of 1750 sovs, four miles, will be decided at Caulfield on Saturday next. The Hurdle Race winner Sir Mnemon ia in with 10.11, which is 121b more than ho carried last Saturday. Mr. C. F. Vallance, who was in town this week, informs me that the new totalisator house at Opaki will be completed in time for the Masterton Racing Club's Spring Meeting in October. Messrs. W. H. S. Moorhouse, C. W. Tringham, J. G. Duncan, J. W. Abbott, and 0. S. Watkiris have been appointed members of the Wellington District Committee for the coming season. The well-known ex-New Zealander D. J. Price, who has been out of luck for some time, led in a winner at the Ballarat Meeting last month. The marquee which has done duty as a tea tent at Otaki is to be removed and an up-to-date tea kiosk erected. Mr. B. Ling, president of Ihe Maori Olub, who was in town this week, said the new building would not be ready for the Spring Meeting. A Press Association cable message from Adelaide states that Beltane has been weighted at 11.9 in the National Hurdles.
