At the Supreme Court, Ethel Cousins and Percy Pascoe, who were found guilty yesterday of the theft of a handbag containing money, were sentenced this morning. .Cousins was sentenced! to two years' gaol, and Pascoe to one year. . DUNEDIN, Sth August. At thii Supreme Court to-day, William Baker and Henry Gordon, who pleaded guilty in the lower Court to breaking and entering and theft at Oamaru, came up for sentence. Baker was ordered to be detained for reformative treatment not exceeding five years, and Gordon was ordered to oome up for sentei.ee when called upon. . Robert Poliar and Mary Faithful weire charged with the theft of an opossum skin rug valued oS. £10, from tbe Gladstone Hotel. Ihe- latter pleaded guilty, and Fobar was ftund guilty of receiving j the stolen property. Sentence in both case.? was deferred .
An old man named Michael Jones wm chaiged with indecently assaulting a little girl, and on a second count with committing an indecent act. Accused was convicted on the second, and sentenced to two years' hard labour. George Henry Garland was acquitted on a charge of stealing a wallet containing money and a postal note from James William Challis.
