CEMENT PRICE ADVANCED

Portland cement has been advanced in price as from Ist August, equivalent to 9s per ton, to 17s 6d per cask or three bags. The rise represents 6d per bag. The advance in price is attributed to a rise of 10s per ton in the price of coal, and the increased coat of freights, wages, and general stores. Bags, for instance, cost double what they did before the war.
