RETURNING DRAFT
STEAMER BRITON EXPECTED TO-MORROW.
The steamer Briton, with returning draft No. 268, is expected to reach Wellington at 8 a.m. to-morrow, and if a clean ship will berth at Glasgow Wharf at 1 p.m. Two gangways have been arranged for by Captain Prictor, Chief Embarkation Officer, Auckland district men leaving the ship by the forward gang-way and Wellington district and South Island men by the gangway aft. Rail and ferry arrangements for the despatch of the men to their homes are, provisionally, as follow : — Details for beyond Marton to Auckland (including Rotorua and Thames) will leave Thorndcm. Station by special train at 4.20 p.m. Refreshments will be provided at the Returned Soldiers' Club for these men.
: Details for stations between Wellington, Palmerston North, Wanganui, and New Plymouth will leave Thomdon Station by special train at 4.40 p.m.- Men of this draft for between Wanganui and New Plymouth will detrain at Wanganui (where they will be billeted overnight), continuing their journey by train leaving Wanganui at 7.3S a.m. on Thursday. Men 1 for Palmerston North, Napier, and Gisbome (who leave by the 4.40 p.m. special train from Thorndton) will be detrained at Palmerston North, and! billeted ijhe night; there, Leaving by train from there at 2 p.m. on Thursday. Men from Lambton to Wocdville, via Wairarapa, leave by the 8 a.m. train from Lambton on Thursday, and will be billeted at the Bristol Hotel, Cubastreet, Wellington, over-night.
The Nelson, North of Westport, Picton and Blenheim men will leave by. the, Mapourika to-morrow at 2 p.m. if the transport arrives in time to connect with the steamer, and failing connection, the Nelson and north of Westland men will depart by the Kaitoa to-morrow at 5 p.m., and the Picton and Blenheim men by the Mapourika at 'noon on Friday. During their stay here (if the occasion arises through failure to connect with the Mapourika to-morrow), the Picton and . Blenheim draft will billet at the Bristol Hotel till departure. ! The Southern men leave by the Lyttelton ferry steamer at. 7.45 p.m. to-morrow.
