COST OF LIVING
The vexed question of the cost of livihg wus raised-by Mr. H; F. Allen, -representing the Ironmasters' Association, ill the .Arbitrtitipn Court this morning. Mr. Allen quoted letters received by him from the Master Grocers' ■ Association, the Muster Bakers' Association, and from a representative master butcher. Tho latter said that during the past three months beef prices in Wellington had remained Uncltaiig'ed, While mlittbii li*d decreased in^ price by -|d per lb. In regard to bread, it was stated that the price had not bften failed since Februi ary, 1917) ■ while groceries, it -was said, hsd increased during the past thr*« months very little if at all. What increases there had been hi some groceries,however, had been counterbalanced b$ a fall in .the price of others.. '
