The Gear Meat Company's arch, at Petone, "which has been, so universally admired, many people making special journeys from Wellington to view it, ■will, if the weather is favourable, he illuminated to-night and on Friday and Saturday evenings for the last time. The company has spared no oxp-ense in providing the arch, as besides the planning and building, a benzine engine and dynamo were set up for the special purpose of the illuminations. Many inquiries have been made as to the architect of' the arch, but so many members of the staff have assisted that it would bo invidious to mention any single person. Mr. Jay v?a,s in charge of the illuminations, and Mr. Gregory did the painting work, including U» two pictures which grace the inside of the atch.
