PORT NICHOLSON YACHT CLUB
A TRD3UTE TO NEW ZEALAND,
A letter was read at last week's meeting -of the Port Nicholson Yacht Club from the Admiralty, stating that those members of the club who have warrants to fly the blue ensign may now do so. Occasion was taken to welcome back Mr. G; Bothamley, an old member and one-time secretary of the club. Mr. Bothamley ha.s met returned by the Kigoma from active service with tho Royal Naval Reserve. His duties kept him in close contact with the Grand Fleet at Scapa. After the business of the evening was concluded Mr. Bothamley made some very instructive and interesting remarks on the subject of the latest British men-of-war. Mr. Bothamley reported that New Zealanders in the Royal Naval1 Volunteer Reserve held their end up well. No men from any part of the Empire, Great Britain included, have so good a record as the fellows who have obtained the rudiments of their sea training in the various yacht clubs of the Dominion. Both in the practical part of boat handling and in the theoretical part of navigation, New Zealanders, Jie said, had made their mark.
