THE COAL REPORT
BOARD OF TRADE SCHEME
CRITICISED
■ At this morning's session of the Conference of the United Federation of Labour most of the' time was occupied by a discussion of the Board of Trade's report on the coal industry. The following motion was carried :
"That this conference declares that the only solution of the coal problem is in the public ownership and control of the mining, transportation, and distribution of coal, with' adequate representation of the workers on the board or boards of ■control, and therefore condemns the proposals for the private control of the mining industry with State guarantee of dividends to private shareholders, as embodied in the Board of Trade report."
