REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES,

The usual meeting' of tho. executive of the Wellington Rugby Football League was held this week, when correspondence was received from Auckland stating that they had accepted Wellington's challenge for the- Northern Union Cup, and asking1 to fix a. dato in July. It was decided to write to Auckland and suggest that tho match be played as soon as possible after the New Zealand team returned from Australia, which will be'early in August. Auckland also intimated that they would favourably consider a date to play Wellington at Wellington. The secretary reported that the City Council had been written to asking for the use of the Basin Reserve on six occasions this year, with the right to charge. The probable matches will bo:—Auckland v. Wellington, Canterbury v. Wellington, New Zealand touring- team v. Wellington, Australia, v. New Zealand, Australia v. Wellington, and the local ohampionship final.

Great interest is being taken in the senior game to be played- at Newtown Park on Saturday between Athletic and Suburbs. Both teams will be fully represented,- and a really good^game should bo tho result. Athletic will have the services of Bradley, who just now is playing great footbaD. At Petone a very keen game is expected between the two local teams. Both teams will have their strongest thirteen. The two local junior teams will also meet on the same ground at 2 p.m., and this gamo should be interesting.
