At the Labour Conference the strength of the Extremists was tested by a motion aiming at the Socialistic objective. Portion of the proposed new plank suggested that the Objective of the party should be the establishment of State social democracy in which the entire means of wealth and .production shoujd be ownod and controlled by the comniun■ity of workers; this to be the sole issue at future elections. The motion w*as defeated by 127 votes to 112. Another far-reaching extremist motion was also defeated by 113 votes to 109. The proceedings closed with scenes of wild disorder. • ' ■ PERTH, This Day.
