From the start the game was hard and force ful, the visitors' weight frequently giviu b them the advantage in close work, hut this was more than counter-balanced bj the speed of the Welshmen in the open The only change in the home team was that Johnston replaced Hollo way, A few minutes after the commence ment a rush by the New Zealanders en abled M'Gregor to score a try, which was not converted. After a deal of open play, Border' secured the- ball, and crossed the line after a great run, Ox ford converting. A f»w minutes latei Oxford kicked a penalty • goal. Some hard and rough play followed, and Surge scored a try, which was not con verted, making the half-time scores New South Wales 10, New Zealand 3. On' resuming, the New Zealanders brought the ball smartly down, and Mit cliell, who had taken tho place of Laing scored, but .the try was not converted. Another penalty goal was kicked by Horder. Then Mitchell made a fine rtt'n and crossed the line, but the try was not converted. During some rough play that followed, M'Ca-rthy,, a New South Wales hack, was injured and removed, Ryan was next to- score, Horder converting, and a few minutes before time Burge secured a try, which was not converted, making ths final Bcorcs: New South Wales 20, New Zealand 9. <
