FIRE AT PALMERSTON

CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE.

PALMEKSTON NORTH, Bth June. A disastrous Sre occurred about seven this morning, Messrs. A. Clark and Company's (painters and decorators) premises being completely gutted. The fire started in "a storeroom at the rear, and. aided by the inflammable stocks, spread rapidly. The adjoining buildings, the Occidental stables and Hodgson and Gabriel's, wino and spirit merchants, were saved by the splendid efforts of the fire brigade. The origin of the fire is unknown. The stock is valued at £7500. and the estimated damage is £4500. The insurances are: Stock, London and- Lancashire £500, Standard £1250: Commercial Union, £1250. The building was insured in the Phoenix office for £1000
