NATURE OP AMERICAN RECOGNI- . TION. fUNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION.—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, 24th April. The Press Bureau announces the. publication by the Foreign Office of the Mote communicated to General Allenby on 22nd April by the United States Minister at Cairo,, announcing that President Wilson recognised the British Protectorate over Egypt, proclaimed in December, 1914. The President reserves for further discussion the details of the recognition, along with the question of the modifying of any American rights which such decision may entail. President Wilson and the American people have every sympathy with the legitimate aspirations of ths Egyptian people for a further measure of selfgovernment, but view with regret any effort to obtain its realisation by resort to violence.
