TRIAL OF THE KAISER

THE PROSPECT OF EXILE.

(UNITED PRBBS ASSOCIATION.—COPIMBHT.) (AUSTBALIAN-NBW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.)

(Received April 22, 9.20 a.m.)

PARIS, 19th April. There is a belief that the Powers will bring the Kaiser to trial, and endeavour to secure his exile from Europe. It is understood that the majority/ of the members, of the Crimes Commission favour this course, although Mr. Lansing is opposed to the trial on the ground that there is no power under the law. The Japanese, too, are opposed to it, owing to'their views on kingly sanctity. It is believed that President Wilson and his other colleagues in the Council of Four do not share Mr. Lansing's view.
