. NAPIER, 21st April. The Waipukurau Annual Meeting was held to-day before a record attendance. The totalisator handled £21,766, a record for the club, against £16,144 last year. Results:—
Maiden Race; seven furlongs.—-1 Tari, 8.5, 1; 2 Glentour, 8.11, 2; 4 Wakatere, 8.11, 3. Also started : Birkelot, Diamond Nap, Woolahra, Goldshine, Murree, The Paga.ii. Won by three lengths. Time, lmin 29sec.
Easter Handicap; once round. —4 Chillies, 7.13 (R. Manson), 1; 1 The Speaker, 8.8, 2; 2 Altercation, 8.11, 3. Also started: 3 Tavistock 8.8. Won by one and a-half lengths. Time, 2min 1 3-ssec.
Hack Handicap; one mile and aquarter.—4 First Salute, B.IL, 1; 5 Carillion, 8.2, 2; 1 Aurore, 8.0, 3. Also started: Wapping, Ethiopian, The Pagan. Won by a head.. Time, 2min 10 4-ssee.
Waipukurau Handicap; one mil© and a-quarter.—-1 Classification, 7.9, 1; 2 Henry Clay, 8.9, 2; 4 Silver Tongue, 7.7, 3. Also started: Ladify, Sensitive, Powder King. Won by a neck. Time, 2min 9 4-ssec.
Oringi Handicap; five furlongs.—l Bindlc, 9.3, 1; 2 Esthonia, 7.9, 2; 4 Piro Piro, 7.9, 3. Also started: Prince Rufus, Demon, Paonui.
Ladies' Handicap; one mile and a-half. —2 Maori Tikanga, 10.7, 1; 3 Ore Ore, 11.1, 2; 6 Tigeriand, 10.7, 3. Also started: Jem, Tornea, Merry Jack, Manaku, Strangeways. Won by a length. Time, 2min 43see. Hatuma Hack Handicap; five furlongs. —10 Lady Kilworth, 8.4, 1; 3 Honey Bee, 8.8, 2; 5 Orawai, 9.3, 3. Also started: Stutter, Hymarty, Shaki, Conziska, Pao, Glentomy Contend, Prince Formby, Black Darling. Won by half a length. Time, lmin 2 2-ssec. The winner peid nearly half a century. Flying Handicap; six furlongs.—s The Speaker, 7.0, 1; 3 Rawakore, 8.0, 2; 1 Croesus, 10.5, 3.
