SIR JAMES FAIRFAX.

(omißD pbkss associawos.—copißiairr.) SYDNEY, 36th March. Sir James Fairfax, senior proprietor, of the Sydney Morning Herald, is dead. [Sir James Reading Fairfax was born at Leamington, England, in 1834, and was a son of .the late Hon. John Fairfax, a pioneer of Australian journalism, who became proprietor of the Herald early in its career. Sir James Fairfax engaged in newspaper work early in life, and was admitted to the Herald proprietary in 1857.]
