SWIMMING
The Wellington Amateur Swimming Club, swam off the first distance (100 yards) in ; the Commemoration Cup on Thursday evening. Following are the results:—C. Rusterholtz (24sec), 1; W. Patterson (scr), 2; S". Powell' (4sec), 3. Also started : W. G. Morpeth 18sec, S. Prince 18sec, V. Allan 18sec, A. Russell 13sec, H. Willde 9sec, A. Tarraiit Bsec. Time, 845ec.... W. Patterson's time was a shade over 60sec, although he swam crooked. It is expected he ' will lower the New Zealand record of 60sec at the carnival to-day. ... • The second distance in the Lloyd Cup (75 yards), for juniors, was also swum. The result follows:—J. Calnan (20sec), 1; H. Farnall (9sec). 2; C. Claridge (2sec), 3. Also started: F Boffa (24sec), R. Rneddon (13sec), K. Gibson (scr). Time,. 69sec.
The result of the 100 yards medley—-' 50 yards breast, 50 yards back-stroke— held by the- Ladies' Club, w.as as follows:—Miss 11. Wilkie (Bsec), 1; J. Aitken (ser), 2; K. Jansen (12sec), 3. Also started: E. Biickmaster (12sec), V. Brodie (12sec), D, Donnelly (3seo). Time, lmin 50sec.
