V.M.C.A. SCOUTS
Under the heading of "Scouts,". the ■annual report..of the Y.M.O.A. states :— "Tile troop continues to do good work under the/leadership of : Scoutmaster N. Cowie, who has taken the place of Mr. B. Dorikin, now serving on a hospital ship. '-The Scoutmaster and boys did excellent; work in raising the sum. of £15 10s by nieans of. a. concert, towards the cost of- purchasing instruments * for a, band. They have rendered, assistance at the Soldiers' Hostel, V.M.C.A. National Headquarters, and in various patriotic efforts. '■' A very' ' successful scout camp was held at South Ka,r^ori during the Christmas holidays. Owing to the increased cost, due to high railway charges, the attendance at the Easter* Camp at Waikaiiae was the smallest for some years. Nevertheless the camp was successful, and one of .the most enjoyable on record. We are again indebted "to Mr. W. H. "Field, M.P., for bis'.kindnob* iv placing tho camping ground «.t our disposal."
