SMALL STEAMER ASHORE
REFLOATED AT FLOOD TIDE.
A telegram was received by the Marine Department on Saturday evening from the principal lighthouse keeper at Farewell Spit, reading: — "Small steamei, red funnel with black top, ashore on Farewell Spit, four miles east eft the lighthouse. Vessel in upright position. No reply to signals asking if assistance required.'* A second message was received yesterday morning from the light-keeper as follows:—"Steamer floated off Spit with the flood-tide." . Nothing ifurther has been heard by the Department, but the vessel is believed to be the Wellington Steam Ship Company's steamer Hu:a, which left' New Plymouth at 2.40 p.m. on Friday for Tarakohe. •
