NEED OF DOCTORS
HELP FOR RURAL PEOPLE.
The Minister of Health remarked today that he had been informed that some wealthy persons in country.' districts had refused contribute to' a guarantee fund for the, maintenance of a doctor. The rich folk said that they; had motor-cars, and would not need a local doctor.' This selfish attitude, continued the Minister, would not be able to hamper, the less wealthy •■■ people in the future, for section 14 of the amend-' ed Public health Act would enable a local body to levy a rate, if necessary, for the provision' of medical services. Many applications had been :received , recently from country districts for' doctors. These pioneers .of settlement had a special claim for consideration., , . . The new section would also help medical men who had been to the wax, to re-establish themselves in practice.
