With the war and the epidemic well over, young and old had "the right li^htnees of heart. The streets were pleasantly lively all day, to the joy of shopkeepers, and business was also brisk in the evening. Musicians did some carolling in the late night. Altogether, Wellington had cause to feel that the meaning and message of Chri6tmas had not passed .away. Yesterday a "coid wikl wind from the sot'th caused a- hugging of firesides, but in the afternoon the sky lost some of its dourness, and many people had a run in the open. GOOD CHEER AT HOSPITALS. Santa' Claus came again to little patients of the Children's Hospital. They had their Christmcs tree, with its ma<ric fruit of toys and other delights. The mirses worked viifch a will to give the young folk happy hours. Adults in the. Public Hospital had also a Yuletide uplift, with a, special dinner and decorations. Patients of the Victoria 'Military Hoa-. pital had a worthy Christmas dinner and award brightened by flowers and verdure. The New Year display of choice millinery made by Miss Abi'ahams, cannot fail to please ladies. The styles are the meet recent, and the effective colour combinations leave nothing to be desired.
