CENTRE TOURNAMENT
The 'ninth tournament under the auspices of the Wellington Bowling Centre commenced this morning. There were fifty entries from the city and suburban and Masterton clubs, and the weather conditions were pleasant, and the greens in good condition. The conditions were two games for to-day of 25 heads each.'." Play will be continued tomorrow and Saturday, and tbe semifinals and finale will be played off nextweek. Mr J., J. Island Bay : Taylor, Condon, Mollinson, Edwards (s), It is interesting to note that all the competitors on the Wellington green played with bowls that had been stamped with the brand of "draw" laid down by the association. The umpire {Mr. C. Bary) congratulated the players on the fact, and the hope was expressed that there would in future be no more trouble over a detail which has in the past given rise to a good deal of unpleasantness.
