A BARMAID'S DEATH

The mysterious disappearance of a woman named Jean Hunter, a barmaid at the Post Office Hotel, was partially cleared up by the discovery of her dead body" this morning. She was'talking in her-bodroomatthe hotel to a'waitress on Monday, afternoon, when ,she complained of being ill, although she refused to have a doctor sent. for. About 5.40 p.m. the same waitress looked into . Miss Hunter's bedroom, but she was not there. At 8.20 this morning an. employee of the hotel went on to tho roof, and saw her dead> body lying oit the roof of. Pearson and Co. 's premises, on ,to which she'had evidently jumped or fallen from'one of the'hotel windows. She was clad only in a robe, and-.had-sustained severe- injuries to her head. The body was recovered ■ by the police with considerable difficulty, and was conveyed to the morgue, where an inquest will bo held. Deceased was a single woman, 36 years ,of age.
