LONDON, 22nd December.
It is stated that the Admiralty made the Dover anti-submaririo barrage effective by causing fictitious- plans of it to fall into the enemy's hands, thus scaring the submarines away. It is now stated that the hoax was stage-managed on a comprehensive scale. The so-call-ed plans w«re found among the fictitious wreckage of a . British warship cast ashore on the coast of Denmark, where a British agent, in the guise of a proGerman neutral, sold the plans for £7500. The Germans found the barrage scheme so formidable that submarines were thereafter ordered to avoid the Straits of Dover.
