Rice, assistant purser of the vessel, has come ashore, and his place »has been taken by Mr Sanderson. Mrs. A. Edwards, of Christchurch, has received word of the death of her son, Mr. Keith . Edwards, from influenza. The late Mr. Ed- V wards, after serving on the Amokura, joined " the'Opoun. Later he joined'the Koklri, and then transferred to the Navua. He was 'on ■ his second trip from San Francisco when he contracted influenza, and djed on the i7th November. DORSET TO SAIL FRIDAY. The departure of the F. and S. liner Dorset, for Port Said, via Colombo, has been fixed for daybreak on Saturday. Passengers are requested to be on board the prevjpua night. ARAWA LOADING FOEHOME. An arrival at Wellington yesterday afternoon was the Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Arawa ■ from Auckland, Gisborne, and Napier. She berthed at the Glasgow Wharf, where she>is how completing her Homeward loaaing. The local office of the company states that the •■ "Arawa will probably leave Wellington on Saturday next for London, via Panama, with passengers. • j THE PORT SYDNEY. The C. and D. liner Port Sydney left Whakatan'e on" Saturday afternoon for Tokomaru Bay, Gisborne, and Wellington. She Is due here on New Year's DVy, and will sail on the ■■ 'Bth January for Port Said. .... The cargo steamer Orator, due at Wellington on New Year's Day for Homeward loading, will leave port for London about the Bth January. A new refrigerated steamer, the Somerset, has recently been constructed for the FederalShire She will succeed the Original Somerset, which was sunk by enemy action during 1917. ; The Union Company announces that the Navua will probably leave' Wellington during the first, week- in January cargo laden for San -•'Francisco. - - -■;.- The Dunedin office'of the Union Steam Ship Company has received no advice when the vessels which are Hinder charter to the Imperial Government will be handed back (reports the Star). , It is probable, however, that of the company's older vessels will be released immediately. No word has been received regarding the release of the fast turbine steamer Wahine. The opinion is expressed that the company's steamers will no* be handed back by the Imperial Government till after the Peace Treaty is stoned. :
