BOWLING

MEETING OF WELLINGTON

CENTRE,

A meeting of the Wellington Bowling Centre was held at the Wellington Club pavilion last evening. In the absence of the president (Mr. W. C. Cooper) through illness, Mr. G. Hendry presided, and other delegates present were': Messrs. T. Robertson, S. Underwood, E. J. Hill, W. H. Morrah, J. Keith, !•'. Meadowcroft, J. Muir, A. Wylie, Hi. Ballinger, G. Bradley, J. Thomson, <H Roberts (secretary).

A notice of motion was received from the New town Club asking that the decision to play only two games of 21 heads be rescinded, and that the order of two games of 25 heads be Bubstituted. Mr. S. Underwood said that many members of the Newtown Clnb thought that two games of 25 heads provided a fuller and better day's sport, whereas two games of 21 heads were scarcely worth playing. After some discussion the motion in favour of playing two games of 25 heads par day was carried. Mr. S. Underwood was elected to act as a delegate from the centre to the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association, which meets at Auckland next year. In referring to the business of the conference, Mr. J. J. Roberts eaid that'one of the main questions that would come up for consideration would be that of the alteration of the constitution; whether it should remain as it is, cr be constituted from delegates from other centres.

Mr. Keith and Mr. Hill considered an alteration in the constitution necessary.

Mr. Underwood said that there were eight centres in the North Island with a membership of 6000 bowlers, and the South Island nine centres with a membership of 4000 bowlers. If Mr. Allen's suggestion was agreed to, the South Island would have nine "representatives, and the North Island eight. Mr. Ballinger moved that Messrs. Hendry, Underwood, Meadowcroft, and Keith be appointed a committee to consider the letter which is to be forwarded to the centre by Mr. Allen. Mr. Hill said that there was a doubt if the Dominion tournament would be held this year.

Eventually it was decided to call a further meeting of the centre and discuss the question of the alteration of the constitution.

The secretary announced that 48 entries had been received for the annual Christmas tournament to commence on Boxing Day, and lie suggested that the Wellington, Victoria, Kewtown, Hataitai, Kelburn, and Thorndon greens be used for the competition.

Mr. Robertson protested that the Petono green should not have been cut out, but the secretary pointed out that the Petone club had not enteTed any teams for the competition.

It was decided that the final games (of twenty-one heads) be played on the Wellington Club's green. No bowls are to be played in the tournament that are not stamped with the Dominion Bowling AECdeiation's stamp.

Proceeds from the tournament will be devoted to the funds of the centre this season. Certificates will be given the winning team, and one to the club. The winning team will also hold the Flyger shield for one year, and the team that obtains the highest aggregate number of points in the tournament will" hold the Gisborne rose bowl for twelve months. The president of the centre, and Messrs. Keith, Underwood, and Roberts, were appointed an executive to settle any disputes that may arise during the tournament.

Permission was granted the LyaJl Bay Club to hold a tournament on Anniversary Day.
