Smith, speaking at Liverpool, said it is now possible to reveal that during the dark days of April all preparations were made to carry to these islands tho scattered remains of the British force if the Germans succeeded in driving the wedge between the British and French armies. If the British had been crushed Mr. Lloyd George was determined to fight on with British and United States warships, while a single .vessel flew the.British flag.
