PAEKAKARIKI HILL
TO THE EDITOR. I Sir, —Another instance of the dangerous state of the Paekakariki Hill was evidenced by ths fatal, accident which occurred! last week. As a frequent traveller over this hill (not for pleasure), I may mention that there are a-ccidents happening nearly every week, and the public are only enlightened when the result proves fatal. Dozens of mishaps are never heard of, although the escapes, in lots of cases, are miraculous. If it is still intended fco adhere to this track as the main arterial road, then let the local bodies concerned be at once forced to fence it. Probably the Government' might be induced to give a grant to help to defray the cost. Several cars have backed over the gide while in the act of changing gears, etc., and this could not possibly have liapponed had I a substantial wire fence been erected. i There is plenty of opportunity at the same time of widening the road in places ! and catting off tome <rf the bad corners. —I Ml| 4tC., A.EJ9LG.
