Dr. Patterson, formerly of Canterbury, died at Hornchurck Hospital last week. Deceased was Mayor of Geraldine, and resigned office 'on his services being accepted by the military authorities, and he left as captain in the N.Z.M.O.
Captain J. Dawson, harbourmaster at Wellington, who has been suffering from influenza', hopes to resume duty on Monday. Coptain Dawson has received news of the death of. his brother, Mr. A. A. Dawson, farmer; at Warkworth, north of Auckland, who succumbed to bronchial pneumonia following on influenza. He leaves a widow and six children. .
Major K. E. Cooper, son of Mr. Henry Cooper, of Ponsonby, has been awarded the Croix de Guerre. Major Cooper, who has been serving yvitb the Royal Garrison Artillery, Imperial Forces, joined his regiment as a subaltern in 1916. He was an old boy of the Auckland Grammar School, and at one time was on the re wrting >t*fi of the N«w Zealand HertW.
