1 Mr. John Sheridan (son of Mr. Patrick Sheridan, formerly of the Native Department, Wellington) contracted influenza while on a visit to Auckland and died in that city this morning. The deceased was born in Melbourne 50 years ago, and arrived in Wellington with his parents in 1870. He was educated at the Marist Brothers' School and St. Patrick's College, and afterwards joined the canvassing staff of the New Zealand Government Insurance Department. Many years ago he removed to Gisborne, where he established himself as a merchant, carrying on business there until his death He recently went to Opotiki on a business mission, and then went to Eotorua, afterwards going on to Auckland.
