SUCCESSFUL SALE OF POLLED ANGUS
The increase in the popularity of the Polled Angus was plainly, shown by the large gathering of buyers at Mr. F. Armstrong's first annual sale at Dannevirke. The. North Island was well represented by men on business bent, but local men were found contesting-every lot offered. The youngsters were produced in good condition, notwithstanding the exceptionally (severe winter, and as all the arrangements were well worked out, Mr. J. B. Thomson; for the W.F.C.A:, did not take long to dispose of the lot. The 29 bulls submitted averaged. 68^- guineas, which may be considered good in view.of the fact that some/ of the entries were on the young side, ranging from eighteen months to two years old. The highest price was paid by Mr. R. Johnston, Motutaria; Hawkes Bay—a fine son. of Orangeman being knocked down to him at 165 guineas. Mr."T. M. Webb, who is a new local bidder, secured the runner-up for 160 guineas.
