',- ... ■, , ■ ■■./..■ [Cambrai is the centre of distribution for a wide district. It is well i equipped with factories and warehouses. There-is also a great railway junction, -with six lines equipped for the heaviest traffic, while numerous roads/meef in the town. The loss of Cambrai would be a serious blow, affecting the German forces even asifar as Lille and Yp'res, as it would cut not only the great feeder line from. Cologne through Maubeuge, but-also sever the line from Metz " and Sedan to Lille and ' Qstend, running parallel with the old front. St. Quentin, likewise, stands on one of the main arteries of Europe. There is a large canal traffic, besides railways, which link the Champagne front with the north-west. The whole district is a veritable network of railways.]l
