-;, LONDON, 30th September. A German evening communique states: There have been fresh engagements east of.Ypres. Tremendous.- fighting is in progress between Cambrai and St. Quentin; the English assault' is -failing on the whole. Violent French and American attacks in the Champagne and between the Argonne and the Meuse werp. repulsed, except for local breaches on both sides of Ardonil.
