THE ENGLISH PIERROTS.

Even gay Pierrots are not immune from tho ; prevailing influenza epidemic, and although they were given three nights in which, to recover, when the company made .its, reappearance at the Town Hail Concert Chamber on Saturday evening, two'members—Mr. Turner and' Miss Elsie Rosslyn—were not well enough to take their places.,in the 'new programme. However, the .i.emainder did exceptionally well,'and the various items presented were all most successful.-.: Mr. David Lyle (the tenor) was in excellent .voice, and sang with fine effect "Land of.the Harlequinade." As an. encore, .he sang the "Prologue, from Pagliacci," and scored the- hit of the ..evening. Elsa Langley was inimitable in a character song, '"E Kissed Oi Once," which, was followed by "The Goblir.s'll Get You." With Miss Billie Wilson, she scored in "Crinoline," and was also excellent in "Great Big World," in which she shared honours with Mr. Leslie Austin. Mr. Roy Cooke sang "Trumpeter" very pleasingly, and responded to.an insistent encore with "Till the Sanda of the Desert Grow Cold." Mr. Louis Mitchell was heard to advantage in "Galloping Dick," which was particularly suited to his voice. Mr. Leslie Austin's comic contribution ."Hey Sonny No" was;well received, and Miss Billie Wilson. scored a big success in a character ;sorig,. "Coal Black Rose." Mr. Charles Lawrence's pianologue "Scenes" caused considerable amusement, and Miss Rima Young's pianoforte solo, "Valse" (Coleridge-Tay-lor), proved as popuhr- as her previous numbers. A number of concerted items, "Seidlitz," "Shut the, Door," "A Burlesque Picture Show," "Rival Singers," and "The Barber's Shop," were '"■' also given. The programme will be repeated until Thursday. ; ,r
