East of the Jordan they have captured Amman. [Tiberias ia on the west shore of the Lake of Tiberias or Sea of Galilee. Semakh is at the southern end, two miles east of the point where the Jordan leaves the Lake. Amman is 30 miles north-east of the Dead Sea.] \ (AT7STBALIAN-NEW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION AND RECTEB.) LONDON, 25th September. An official report from Palestine states:. East of the Jordan we are approaching Amman, north of which the Arabs, had effected important demolitions of the railway. Other Arabs are pressing the enemy, who is retiring northward* from Maan. We have taken over 40,000 prisoners and 265 guns. (AUSTBALIAN-NBW ZEALAND CABLE ASSOCIATION.) ' ' . LONDON, 25th September. It is understood that the 265 guns which were captured represents practically the whole of the artillery of the two Turkish armies. The Turks east of the Jordan are now cut in two sections, both cut off from their base at Damascus. The Turkish centre, near Maan, is threatened by. the British advance on Amman, and their position is critical.
