THE ARREST OF THE AMERICAN CONSUL
ACCUSED OF IMPLICATION IMsA PLOT. NEW YORK, 13th September. Mr. Arno Dosch-Fleurot, writing from Stockholm, says: "The United States Consul, Mr. Poole, was arrested, at Moscow and accused of implication; in the plot to bribe a Lettish troop to- abandon the Bolsheviks. This is absurd.' Long before I left Russia, the Letts told me they were unwilling to fight against the Allies,, 1 because they were against the Bolsheviks, and wonld help them to re- ■ gain the Fatherland from Germany. There has been the closest co-operation V at Moscow between the Allied and the American officials. The Bolsheviks are futilely trying to break the solidarity of the Allies by causing ill-feeling between them."
