(UNITED PBESS ASSOCIATES.—COPYRIGHT.) (Received September 16, 9 a.m.)
LONDON, 'lsth September.
Australian and New Zealand editors have been interviewed by many English' newspapers. they speak in glowing terms of the Allied effort on the West front. The Australian editors, after visiting the Australian battlefields^ in the vicinity of Peronne, joined the New Zealand editors, who had spent'several days with their troops in the region of Bapaume, and also went to Ypres, Arras, and Vimy. The editors were received by Sir Douglas Haig. They visited Pozieres, Albert, the Marne, and the Vesle, and witnessed the shelling of Messines and Mont Kemmel; and from the Vimy Ridge saw the British guns punishing the German support lines after their evacuation of< Lens. The New Zealand editors were fortunate •in arriving at the positions at Havrincourt, from, which the New •Zealanders . the same day had driven\Out the Germans. They saw the wounded' receiving their first dressings, and many German dead —a gruesome sight. The party traversed 1 a distance of 160 miles, and appreciated the opportunities of meeting Generals Monash, Lawrence, Rawlinson, Horrie, and Buseell. They were received by M. Poincare and M. Clemenceau.
The editors were greatly impressed by the spirit of the Allied troops. They learned'the full facts regarding the do--ings of their oijm divisions, and returned with high hopes of the future, following the splendid British, French, and American'offensive. They regard the present situation as extremely satisfactory.
