The Conference of Directors of Technical Schools, at present sitting in Wellington, has decided to recommend the National Efficiency Board to urge the Minister of Educatipn to set up a com-' mittee of educationists to act with the Efficiency Board in an enquiry, the object of which would be to recommend such changes in the whole educational Bystem as might be deemed necessary.
Some discussion took place at yesterday's meeting of the executive of the Wellington .branch of the Navy League with regard to the celebration of' Nelson Day, and a number of suggestions were made as to the manner in which it should be carried out this year- Arrangements will probably be made for addresses to bo given to school branches, together with a patriotic picture entertainment. A sub-committee was set up to make' arrangements, and to report as to a suitable method of marking the occasion by the branch itself. •
The payments made' by the Wairarapa Patriotic Association for the month of July totalled £14,393.
A man named Edwards, while working on a Wellington wharf this morning, was struck on the head by a derrick hook, sustaining an injury which necessitated his removal to thp Hospital.
