DIVORCE FOR DESERTION

Sitting in divorce in the Supreme Court this morning, his Honour Mr. Justice Chapman heard the undefended petition of -Annie Bethune, of Stawell, Victoria,, for a dissolution of her marriage with her husband, Angus Bethune. The petitioner set out that the parties were married at North Richmond, Victoria, in 1886, and in 1903 the respondent came to New Zealand with the expressed intention of ma-king a home for his wife, but had failed to supply her with, funds or money to come to New Zealand. The petition further alleged that since 1909 respondent had wilfully deserted the petitioner without cause; that since 1899 he had been an habitual drunkard, and that to the best of petitioner's belief he is now resident at Taradale, near Napier. Having heard the evidence, hia Honour granted a decree nisi, with costs against the respondent.
